artists like stevie ray vaughan, ray charles and prince sparked 16-year-old reto dellatorre’s enthusiasm for blues, funk, r’n’b and his immense love for electric guitar. after studying at the swiss jazz school in lucerne, he traveled to los angeles, california and in the heart of holywood he furthered his studies at musicians institute college. he studied under many guitar gurus such as allen hinds, jeff richman, ross bolton, carl verheyen and scott henderson.

after attending musicians institute college reto took his knowledge back home to switzerland and compiled a lengthy list of songs. he was ready to record them.

dellatorre began considering l.a. to be his second home and returned to hollywood to record his debut album “realize it.” the album features some of the greatest fusion musicians on the planet – jimmy haslip, jeff richman, mitchel forman, joel taylor and rene riebli.

“realize it kicks some alpine you-know-what with cool blues and electric jazz! this powerful set of tunes was recorded live in l.a. february 2013 in only two days, a tribute to the professionalism and chemistry that this group created. the results…stellar! it’s music that not only lays down the grooves, but also has strong and memorable melodies. dellatorre’s 6-track ep ‘realize it’ is loaded from front to back with only the good stuff. you’ve gotta check this one out…it’s perfect for a sizzling summer!!” – scott o’brien, smooth jazz global

at the end of 2016 reto dellatorre recorded his second album “so what!” a statement to the infinite importance of unimportance. on this record he collaborated with the blues titan Josh smith bringing west coast blues funk at its best with strong melodies and interesting lyrics. reto once again surrounded himself with the best studio musicians from the l.a. scene and recorded the whole album live in three days at robbie kriegers horse latitudes studio. reto played guitar on his album and was joined by the wonderful and energetic nio rene (joe cocker, nikka costa) who sang della torre’s songs as if they were her own, josh smith delivered unique guest solos, maxayn lewis (tina turner), jv collier (the temptations), joel taylor (stanley clarke) and mitchel forman (john scofield).

2017 is shaping up to be a busy year for dellatorre with plans of touring to promote the release of “so what!”, composing new songs and itching to get back to his second home in los angeles to record album number three.
